Dinghy picks ARAG to deliver legal services and cover for ‘Freelancer Assist’

05 September 2018

Insurtech start-up Dinghy, which launched at the start of this year, has teamed up with ARAG to offer legal services and protection to freelance professionals.

Dinghy currently offers professional indemnity, public and cyber liability products, as well as cover for business equipment to independent professionals, primarily in the IT, creative and wider consultancy sectors.

ARAG’s online legal resources, advice and insurance are brought together as ‘Freelancer Assist’ which is included with all Dinghy packages and designed to help busy freelancers deal with troublesome administrative distractions like unpaid invoices and tax enquiries.

“Dinghy have really hit on a market that is ripe for this sort of technological disruption,” says Corporate Account Manager at ARAG, George Bladon. “More and more people are working independently, and they tend to be time-poor but also conscious about their overheads.”

“Dinghy have made it quick and easy for them to buy insurance that suits their needs, without unnecessary cover and cost. Once they’ve bought it, Freelancer Assist helps them to manage all sorts of legal responsibilities and issues that can be really time-consuming and expensive for a micro-enterprise.”

As well as being a leading insurtech disruptor, Dinghy is founded on the B-Corp model of corporate governance that embraces a revolutionary business philosophy, setting rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

“Our customers tend to be comfortable with technology” adds Dinghy Co-Founder Rob Hartley “so ARAG’s digital legal tools, which allow them to self-serve but fall back on expert help if they need it, are a perfect fit.”

“Legal expenses insurance inevitably tends to focus on the risk of employment disputes, but that sort of cover is irrelevant to freelancers. ARAG has been great in putting together a package that really suits our specific customers at a price that reflects the cover but offers huge value to them.”
